Ghyll scrambling is a challenging activity involving working
your way up or down a groge containing a river. The sport takes place in
outdoor spaces, in places suchas the Lake District .
The idea of Ghyll scrambling involves traversing along rock faces, hopping
across boulders, climbing up waterfalls, sliding down natural rock and plunging
from up to 8 metres into deep pools of water.
SKILLS NEEDED
Every obstacle can be by passed if you really don’t fancy
taking part in it and apart from the optional jumps; the water rarely comes
above waist height; so you don’t need to be a strong swimmer. Good
communication skills between the groups are essential in this activity to
ensure health and safety. This activity is suitable for people of all ages and
levels of fitness.
